K.A.Y.O Da Konspiracy, H-Town rapper, lyricist, and creator of H.I.R.E (Hip Hop Is Real Entertainment), came through to show why Houston is always hot in degrees and fire with talent. Being one of the three voices of H.I.R.E, he is the wordsmith of the group and his aesthetic and flow of rhymes takes us back to music that is timeless. H.I.R.E caters to hip hop, neo soul, and R&B where they serve people soul food so the listeners are fed with music that is everlasting and fulfilling.
He shared with us that his rap game started when he was an infant. “My first words was O.P.P according to my dad… and from there I fell in love with hip hop in the 4th grade.” O.P.P is a timeless single by Naughty By Nature, a classic rap group from the evolution of hip hop. K.A.Y.O also let us in on a key artist that heavily impacted his rap vibe, and he told us Nas is the inspiration behind it, and he used to refer to himself as the SouthSide Nas. As you can see the pattern is that classic music has a heavy impact on how K.A.Y.O Da Konspiracy came to be.
Because he stepped his foot out in the world to distribute his masterpieces, he is creating footsteps for future artists to follow to create music that is fulfilling and memorable for generations to come. “We try our hardest to try and make something that’s relatable to everybody…make some timeless music. I feel like we got a lot of popcorn music right now, we trying to give people that soul food.”
SOUL FOOD is an essential element that brings a community of people together. KA.Y.O also shared with us the importance of connection and deep passion when it comes to an artist and his work, “2019 is when I really took it serious. It’s when I left my job and I started selling CDs door to door…It builds a much more ginuwine relationship.” The deepest way to show love to someone was to go out and buy their album, and the deepest way to show how invested someone is within themselves, is to physically show others the commitment that one has to the creativity embedded within their DNA.
Listening to him and the way he articulated his story, it’s clear to tell that he is true to who he is, his artistry, and the things that he stands for. He believes in pushing knowledge and creating art that is able to last, and urges others to stay true to themselves and their creativity. He tells the people, “If you trying to do music, stay focused, stay driven. Do not let anybody compromise you from what you want to do. Always stay true to yourself and do not compromise your art for nothing.”
Throughout his career, he was able to collab with a host of artists from all over that strive to create music in the same manner. With Cinema 6 being his third album, he is watching his artwork step more and more in the world as a movement. On March 16th, 2025, Cinema 6 will be a live show in Texas for all to listen to him, and other dope artists from around the way. As a movement that is moving, more voices will be heard and greater impacts will be made.
Of course we have the full interview for you to watch!
