We went from Black History Week

To Black History Month. 

How about now we switch that to Black History Years? 

Years and years of us making history even when we were put in chains and called animals,  

We rose above painted stigmas of our skin color, 

And we even had to dumb ourselves down just to feel like the average human being. 

Even though we went through the most hell, 

Heaven will be the most angelic thing we have ever seen. 

Black History Month is just a statement of greatness that we created over the years. 

We could have never imagined being pioneers of a great outcoming. 

Being inventors of our own destiny while believing in a Higher power greater than us. 

We breathed life into a country that would have died without our presence. 

We gave life to a country that did not know what they were doing in life. 

They bought people who had life figured out to teach them how to be people. 

We taught them how to do life in general, 

And they gave thanks to us by turning us into evil people who did nothing but live. 

They disturbed our peace because they had no peace of their own. 

We made it out of the land of Egypt and fought for centuries.

Our victories may look small to the average eye, 

But they are huge with so many factors. 

Life could’ve been worse for us, 

But it wasn’t. 

Even pretending to be illiterate people got us far, and we became prestigious people by obtaining a degree majoring in Life. 

We taught ourselves how to read and write… 

How were we able to do such a thing?

It was by the grace and mercy of God. 

Because without his movement amongst us, we would’ve been distinct as a People.
